Iran's Foreign Ministry Calls US Policy a "Real Farce"

The spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmaeil Baqaee, affirmed that the American policy adopted towards his country has transformed into what he described as a "real farce." Baqaee strongly criticized Washington's recent actions, considering them an attempt to demonstrate the formation of an alliance hostile to Tehran. Baqaee explained that the United States is engaging with countries, such as Bahrain, which have no significant economic ties with Iran, in an endeavor suggesting the formation of a "coalition" against the Islamic Republic. He added that Washington, concurrently, announces a halt to sports and academic exchanges with Iran, despite these exchanges "having been practically non-existent for many years." The Iranian official considered that the US administration is thereby "re-imposing sanctions on matters already under sanctions," amid an attempt to build an anti-Iran alliance in what he termed a "vacuum." These statements come days after the US Treasury Secretary, Scott Bennett, announced unprecedented economic measures against Iran as part of an "economic fury" strategy. These measures surpass in severity any previous actions in the history of economic isolation and coincide with the naval blockade imposed on Tehran.
