Reports indicate that the Iranian delegation refrained from participating in a planned handshake and a joint group photo with the American delegation, on the sidelines of ongoing talks between the two sides. This step reflects continued tension and a lack of trust between Tehran and Washington, despite ongoing diplomatic contacts, according to observers. The Iranian stance comes amidst sensitive negotiations addressing complex security and political files. Tehran was keen to avoid any protocol scene that could be interpreted as a display of political rapprochement with the United States, affirming its commitment to separating the negotiation process from accompanying political and media messages. The "Lucerne Lake Summit" and the first meeting of the high-level committee for US-Iranian negotiations commenced in Switzerland. These negotiations are being jointly mediated by Qatar and Pakistan, aiming to reach a comprehensive and lasting agreement that addresses various files included in the memorandum of understanding between the two parties. Doha announced the formation of specialized technical groups to discuss the clauses of the final agreement, in addition to follow-up teams to monitor the implementation of understandings and ensure progress in the negotiation process. The spokesperson for the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Majed Al-Ansari, affirmed that the negotiations reflect the parties' commitment to diplomatic solutions and working in good faith to reach a sustainable agreement that enhances regional stability. He also praised Pakistan's role as an active mediating partner, appreciating the support of countries such as Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Egypt, the UAE, and other nations in creating favorable conditions for the success of the negotiating path. Qatar reiterated its firm commitment to continue mediation efforts to achieve a final agreement that promotes security and peace in the Middle East.
