Iran-Oman Understanding on Strait of Hormuz and Sea Routes

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian announced Sunday that his country has reached an understanding with the Sultanate of Oman concerning the Strait of Hormuz. Separately, Tasnim news agency cited an Iranian source confirming Iran and Oman agreed on details for new entry and exit routes for the Strait. The source clarified that this Iran-Oman understanding does not mean an immediate reopening of the Strait, but rather lays the groundwork. Information indicated these understandings include closing the southern route, despite U.S. insistence, a point contradicting President Pezeshkian's statements.
