Iran denies US claims regarding departure of diplomatic delegation from New York
The Iranian mission to the United Nations dismissed reports claiming that Washington demanded the Iranian delegation to leave New York, emphasizing that the departure of the delegation, led by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, took place on Monday evening according to a previously scheduled timetable. The mission explained in an official statement that the US State Department was notified of the departure date set for September 17, prior to the delegation's arrival in the United States to participate in the 81st session of the UN General Assembly. The mission directed sharp criticisms at the US State Department, accusing it of failing to achieve any notable results and subsequently resorting to promoting baseless and worthless information. Previously, a press report claimed, citing a source, that the American side requested the delegation's departure, while acknowledging at the same time the existence of a prior schedule for Araghchi's departure on Monday evening heading toward Tehran.
