Iran Denies Taking Military Action in Response to Imposed Flight Restrictions

Iran's Supreme National Security Council Secretariat denied on Saturday taking any military action in response to restrictions imposed on Iranian flights. The Secretariat clarified in a statement that the circulation of inaccurate interpretations and quotes from the Council Secretary's statements regarding air transport had led to questions and ambiguity. Consequently, the Secretariat refuted claims that Iran intended to take reciprocal military action in response to recent flight restrictions. The statement added that serious negotiations between Tehran and the concerned countries are ongoing, aimed at lifting some of the unlawful flight restrictions that have been imposed. It further indicated the availability of multiple non-military options for reciprocity, which might be applied to some airports if necessary. The Secretariat expressed hope that such measures would not be required.
