Iran Announces Downing of Two More US Drones in Strait of Hormuz

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that its air defense systems shot down a U.S. MQ-1 drone over the Strait of Hormuz. A statement from the IRGC confirmed that its "advanced air defense system intercepted and destroyed another MQ-1 drone belonging to the terrorist U.S. Army over the Strait of Hormuz." In a separate incident, the Iranian Army reported that its air defenses downed an advanced "Orbiter" reconnaissance drone yesterday evening, Sunday, also over the Strait of Hormuz. This escalation follows a previous announcement by the IRGC last Thursday regarding the interception and destruction of U.S. Army drone "MQ-9" number 53 in the airspace of Qeshm Island. These developments coincide with statements made by U.S. President Donald Trump yesterday, Sunday, who affirmed that "something big could happen very soon regarding Iran," indicating that the options on the table include "erasing Iran, letting it rot economically, or reaching a deal." Concurrently, U.S. embassies yesterday in Beirut, Kuwait, Bahrain, Baghdad, Muscat, and Amman issued security warnings to American citizens, urging them to exercise extreme caution. These warnings come amidst accelerating intelligence reports and field movements, all suggesting that the seven-month-long confrontation between Washington and Tehran has entered its most dangerous phase.
