The Integrity Commission warned today, Wednesday, against extortionists exploiting its ongoing anti-corruption campaign. The Commission clarified in a statement that its fulfillment of legal duties and responsibilities, including recent measures to combat corruption, pursue those misappropriating public funds, and the specialized operations carried out in Baghdad and the provinces, is conducted in accordance with legal procedures and based on judicial warrants. The Commission urged official institutions, investors, and all citizens to verify the identity of individuals who contact them impersonating Commission staff with the aim of extortion and blackmail. These individuals exploit the current campaign, conducted in cooperation with judicial and executive authorities, to intimidate them and achieve malicious personal gains. It further advised against responding to anyone who communicates through unofficial channels claiming affiliation with the Commission, emphasizing the need to promptly contact the toll-free number (154) to track and apprehend them red-handed.
