Integrity Commission Head Affirms Dedication to Public Fund Protection
The Head of the Integrity Commission, Mohammed Ali al-Lami, affirmed on Tuesday a serious commitment to realizing the people's aspirations and safeguarding public funds. This came during his reception of Russian Ambassador to Iraq, Elbrus Kutrashev, as they discussed enhancing anti-corruption cooperation and exchanging expertise between their countries' oversight institutions. Al-Lami stressed the Commission's keenness to strengthen cooperation with the Russian side, particularly the Public Prosecution, through exchanging visits, experiences, and best practices in preventing and combating corruption, according to the signed Memorandum of Understanding. He highlighted the importance of concerted national and international efforts, information exchange, and legal assistance in confronting corruption. Al-Lami confirmed the Commission's strong resolve and optimism, aligned with citizens' aspirations to eliminate this scourge and protect public funds, supported by the government program. For his part, the Russian Ambassador commended Iraq's pivotal regional role, praising the Federal Integrity Commission's anti-corruption efforts. He expressed satisfaction with ongoing communication between Russian and Iraqi oversight bodies, underscoring the importance of continued cooperation and expertise exchange.
