A high-level negotiating delegation representing the Kurdistan Regional Government is preparing to head to Baghdad tomorrow, Wednesday, with the aim of discussing and settling financial rights, obligations, and dues for the region within the 2027 federal budget. The Department of Information and Media in the regional government explained in an official statement that the delegation's composition includes leading officials from the Council of Ministers, the Ministries of Finance and Natural Resources, in addition to an official representative from the Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs. The delegation is scheduled to hold a series of joint meetings with the federal Ministry of Finance, addressing financial and oil commitments, regional rights, securing salaries for employees, Peshmerga forces, security personnel, retirees, and social protection beneficiaries, alongside operational and investment expenses and other financial demands. The regional government stressed in its statement that its negotiating team will strive to ensure the clear and legal consolidation of Kurdistan's dues within the 2027 budget, establishing a stable mechanism that guarantees regular disbursement, while emphasizing the rejection of subjecting basic salaries and essential dues to actual spending standards or any conditions that might cause delays or reductions.
