Government Confirms Employee Salaries Secured, Refutes Delay and Foreign Borrowing Claims, Addresses Vital Issues

The official government spokesperson, Haider al-Aboudi, confirmed on Monday that employee salaries are fully secured, denying rumors of 40-day distribution. Al-Aboudi clarified the government has not resorted to foreign borrowing to date, despite the economic crisis and a related parliamentary proposal. Al-Aboudi noted that the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank are coordinating to overcome the financial crisis, stressing efforts to analyze state challenges and enhance Iraq's capabilities. Addressing armament, the spokesperson indicated an urgent need to equip Iraq with air defense systems. He affirmed directives were issued to security agencies to meet needs through new armament contracts. Regarding state control over weapons, al-Aboudi stated ongoing discussions aim to overcome obstacles, emphasizing the state's commitment to monopolizing force by the end of September. Concerning the ministerial cabinet's completion, al-Aboudi reported that political consensus has not seen tangible progress, with indicators remaining below aspirations. Regarding relations with Saudi Arabia, al-Aboudi pointed out Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi's visit date has not yet been set, despite an official invitation. Economically, al-Aboudi explained Iraq's oil exports have been negatively affected by the Strait of Hormuz closure. He added the government established cooperation with Turkey for strategic pipelines and additional oil terminals to support the budget. Finally, al-Aboudi affirmed the anti-corruption campaign's continuation, clarifying it targets those who profit at the expense of Iraqi funds. He revealed the judiciary and government have begun sending judicial requests to Interpol and foreign countries to extradite corrupt individuals.
