GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohammed Albudaiwi stated that Gulf countries aim to maintain normal relations with Iran despite rising regional tensions.
He explained that recent Iranian attacks targeted vital civilian infrastructure and crossed red lines, stressing that disruption of maritime navigation affects not only Gulf nations but many countries worldwide.
He emphasized that GCC states have the full right to defend their sovereignty and will take all necessary measures to protect their territories.
He also called on the UN Security Council to act swiftly to ensure freedom of navigation, including restoring stability in the Strait of Hormuz.
