Finance Minister and Central Bank Governor Discuss Enhancing Financial and Monetary Coordination

Iraq's Finance Minister Faleh Sariy and Central Bank Governor Nizar Nasser Hussein on Sunday discussed current financial and economic conditions amidst ongoing challenges. A Ministry of Finance statement confirmed the meeting, which explored enhancing financial and monetary coordination. The Finance Minister stressed that current circumstances necessitate continuous fiscal and monetary policy coordination for efficient financial flow management, fulfillment of state obligations, and continued financial system reform and public finance management tool development. Sariy also highlighted the importance of boosting data exchange between the Ministry and the Central Bank, alongside accelerating digital transformation, to elevate financial institutions' efficiency and responsiveness to economic changes. The Central Bank Governor, for his part, detailed the Bank's methodology supporting monetary stability, developing banking operations, and aligning with national economic needs. He emphasized coordination with the Ministry of Finance on economic and financial matters. Both parties, the statement added, agreed to continue joint efforts on measures to strengthen financial and monetary stability and ensure the regular fulfillment of essential state obligations.
