Family Court Ends Lawsuit to Detain Ahmed Ezz Following Settlement with Zeina
The Egyptian Family Court ruled today, Sunday, to dismiss the lawsuit for the detention of artist Ahmed Ezz by reconciliation, following his payment of an amount equivalent to 11,400 US dollars (570,000 Egyptian pounds). This decision pertains to the lawsuit filed against him by artist Zeina, concerning the payment of a maid's salary. This action marks a development in the ongoing legal disputes between the two parties. The competent court had previously scheduled July 28 to announce its verdict in this case on August 16, contingent on the confirmation of the demanded payment. Earlier, the court had upheld a ruling obliging Ezz to pay a maid's salary of 600 US dollars (30,000 Egyptian pounds), after rejecting his appeal. The dispute between Ahmed Ezz and Zeina originated in 2014 with a legal challenge over a customary marriage and the paternity of their twins, Ezz El-Din and Zein El-Din, escalating into prolonged court battles. Zeina secured a Khula (wife-initiated divorce) ruling from Ahmed Ezz in 2017. Subsequent cases continued regarding alimony, school expenses, and service wages, with the Family Appeals Court issuing rulings to modify monthly and children's expenditures.
