Extensive Anti-Corruption Drive in Salah al-Din Leads to Arrests Including Deputy Governor for Energy Affairs

The Integrity Commission on Tuesday arrested dozens of individuals implicated in corruption cases in Salah al-Din, including the Deputy Governor for Energy Affairs. A major security operation resulted in the detention of 54 employees, involved in issues concerning official delegations and and inflated car maintenance costs. Mohammed Ayed Fanakh, Deputy Governor of Salah al-Din for Energy Affairs, is among the notable detainees. Meanwhile, a security force encircled the residence of Salah al-Din Provincial Council member, Kamil Abbas Al-Ashraf (from the Azm Alliance), in Samarra, after the Integrity Commission issued an arrest warrant against him for public funds waste and corruption charges. Search operations for him continue following reports of his escape from security forces to an unknown destination.
