Execution Carried Out Against Two Individuals for Mosque Crime in Mecca
The competent authorities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia carried out the death penalty by discretionary execution against a man and a woman of Bangladeshi nationality, following their conviction for committing an immoral act inside a mosque in the Holy Capital. The Ministry of Interior stated in an official announcement that the security agencies successfully arrested the defendants, identified as Nazrul Islam Abdul Basir and Siti Akhtar, after they committed the crime which represented a blatant violation of the sanctity of the place and time. Investigations resulted in formally charging them and referring them to the competent judiciary, which issued a ruling sentencing them to discretionary execution given the gravity and seriousness of the committed act. The ruling became final and enforceable after completing the judicial procedures and obtaining approval from the relevant authorities, leading to a royal decree to execute the legal punishment on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, in the Mecca region. The interior ministry concluded its statement by affirming the government full commitment to maintaining security, achieving justice, and applying Islamic rulings against anyone who violates the sanctity of places of worship and breaches honor, warning outlaws that deterrent punishment will be the fate of anyone tempted to commit such disgraceful acts.
