Employee in Nineveh Municipalities Arrested for Illegal Collection of Fees
The Federal Integrity Commission announced on Monday the arrest of an employee in one of the municipalities' departments in Nineveh province for illegally collecting fees from shop owners. According to the commission's statement, a team from the Nineveh Investigation Directorate moved to the New Mosul sector on the right side of Mosul city following information about illegal fee collection by the employee, who was seizing the collected amounts. The employee issued official receipts for the fees but manipulated the carbon copies to conceal the embezzlement. He admitted to misappropriating funds for over a year and a half. Receipts that were tampered with were seized as criminal evidence, and investigations continue to quantify the stolen sums. An official seizure report was prepared under a judicial warrant, and the accused along with the evidence was presented to the Nineveh Integrity Court judge, who ordered his detention under Article 316 of the Penal Code.
