Egypt and Pakistan Urge Implementation of Islamabad MoU to Contain Escalation and End Regional Conflict

Egypt and Pakistan have called for the implementation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, signed on June 18, 2026, between the United States and Iran. This aims to contain ongoing escalation and achieve a comprehensive, sustainable agreement that enhances regional security and stability. The appeal came during a phone conversation yesterday, Saturday, between Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Ati and his Pakistani counterpart Muhammad Ishaq Dar, with both ministers emphasizing the memorandum's importance. During the call, the two officials exchanged assessments on various regional issues and discussed efforts to de-escalate tensions and restore calm. They warned against the potential risks of the conflict expanding in the region. The sides also agreed to continue close consultation and coordination, both bilaterally and within the Quad Regional Parties mechanism, which includes Egypt, Pakistan, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia. This supports joint efforts to bolster regional security, according to a statement by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued today, Sunday.
