Dawa Party: Maliki's Candidacy for PM Remains Valid; Withdrawal Exclusively in Framework's Hands

 The Islamic Dawa Party announced Sunday that State of Law Coalition leader Nouri al-Maliki has not withdrawn his candidacy for Prime Minister, confirming that his nomination—officially announced last January—remains valid. In an official statement, the party clarified that the decision to withdraw the candidacy rests exclusively with the Coordination Framework according to the original selection mechanism, while simultaneously denying reports that Maliki has proposed any alternative names to form the next government.
