The Islamic Daawa Party warned on Wednesday against the repercussions of instability and fluctuations in the exchange rate of the Iraqi dinar against the dollar, urging concerned parties to take urgent measures to curb rising prices and protect citizens' purchasing power. The party stated in a release that the instability in the exchange rate led to higher commodity prices in markets and a drop in citizens' purchasing power, expressing concern over the negative reflection of this on political and social conditions. It added that it understands the difficult circumstances Iraq is experiencing due to the ongoing regional war and inherited financial deficit, yet it called on authorities to accelerate curbing the rise in the exchange rate and control its repercussions, stressing that economic crisis management must not come at the expense of citizens and their ability to secure basic needs. The party emphasized the importance of addressing the root causes of the crisis, supporting national production, reducing waste and corruption, organizing imports, and tightening market oversight. It also called on merchants and business owners to consider the difficult conditions citizens face, cooperate to pass the current phase, and stay away from greed and monopoly, noting that they must bear their national and moral responsibilities toward the Iraqi people.
