Congress Estimates "Golden Dome" System Cost at $1.2 Trillion Over Two Decades

The US Congressional Budget Office estimated that developing, deploying, and operating the "Golden Dome" missile defense system would cost approximately $1.2 trillion over twenty years. According to a report issued by the office, a national missile defense system with broad capabilities consistent with the executive order would require the same cost for its development, deployment, and operation for the specified period. The office clarified that this national system consists of four interceptor layers: a space layer, two wide-ranging surface layers, in addition to a regional sector-based layer on the ground.
