The Directorate of Civil Defense announced today, Saturday, that its teams are continuing search efforts for a missing woman under the rubble of a collapsed building in Basra Governorate. The Directorate stated in a release that Civil Defense rescue teams are conducting intensive field operations to deal with the aftermath of a four-story residential building collapse in the Al-Muwafaqiya area. Specialized teams successfully evacuated and rescued the families present inside the building, while technical efforts cautiously persist amidst the debris of the old and dilapidated structure, aiming to locate the missing woman. These operations are being carried out under the immediate supervision of the Director-General of Civil Defense, Major General Mohsen Kadhim Al-Alak, and with direct field oversight from the Director of Basra Civil Defense, Brigadier General Mazen Mohammed Lafta. This ensures the deployment of all technical and human resources to secure the accident site and expedite rescue operations.
