China confirms its companies eagerness to significantly expand activities and investments in Iraq

China's Ambassador to Iraq, Cui Wei, confirmed Tuesday the eagerness of Chinese companies to expand their activities and investments in the Iraqi market. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein received the Chinese Ambassador on May 12, 2026, marking the end of his diplomatic mission in Baghdad. During the meeting, they reviewed bilateral relations and ways to enhance joint cooperation in political, economic, and investment fields to serve both friendly nations. Both sides discussed regional and international issues of common interest, emphasizing the importance of supporting stability and international cooperation. The Minister praised the Ambassador's role in developing bilateral relations, particularly in economy, energy, and infrastructure, wishing him success in his future duties. For his part, the Chinese Ambassador expressed his country's appreciation for the existing cooperation level with Iraq, stressing China's continued support for Iraq's development and stability path, and the commitment of Chinese firms to expanding their presence and investments within the Iraqi market.
