The African football governing body has announced the return to holding the Africa Cup of Nations every two years, reversing the previous plan to stage it every four years. The president stated that this decision aims to protect the interests of African football, its 54 member associations, and African players competing abroad. He noted that the proposed African Nations League requires several years to generate the financial resources needed to support and develop African football and ensure its financial sustainability. It was confirmed that the next edition of the tournament will take place in 2027 in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, with subsequent editions scheduled for 2028, 2031, and 2033, excluding 2030 due to its overlap with the World Cup.
