Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri stated on Monday that the positions of border villages and towns, especially Christian ones, which reject claims of their affiliation with Israel, "embody the authenticity of deeply rooted national belonging that cannot be compromised under any circumstances." In a statement, Berri expressed his appreciation for the declarations and stances issued by heads of municipal councils and spiritual leaders in those southern villages and towns, particularly the Christian ones located within the Marjayoun and Bint Jbeil districts. He highlighted that the statement by Rmeish municipality was among the most prominent of these positions, as it "rejected, denied, and refuted the false allegations promoted by the Israeli Prime Minister regarding the desire of the residents of these villages to join the occupying Israeli entity." Berri emphasized that the steadfastness of the residents of these villages, their resilience, and their adherence to their land and national identity "affirm the depth of their national belonging, which they will not relinquish regardless of the circumstances."
