Iraq's Minister of Finance, Faleh Sari, discussed prospects of cooperation in funding infrastructure projects and supporting developmental priorities with a delegation from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), headed by Konstantin Limitovsky. Minister Sari emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation with international financial institutions and leveraging their expertise and capabilities to support Iraq's development trajectory and infrastructure enhancement. The meeting was attended by the Undersecretary of the Ministry and the Director Generals of the Iraqi Fund for External Development and the Public Debt Department. The head of the delegation reviewed the bank's operational nature and the projects it contributes to funding globally across vital sectors such as transportation, energy, water, and digital infrastructure. The Minister stressed that proposed funding projects are subject to meticulous study to ensure the optimal choice for Iraq, considering economic viability, funding efficiency, and cost, thereby serving national interests, meeting developmental priorities, and preserving the state's financial stability. For its part, the AIIB delegation affirmed its readiness to support and fund priority projects in Iraq, particularly strategic infrastructure initiatives, foremost among them the Development Road project, which will contribute to bolstering the country's economic development.
