Araqchi Warns of Global Repercussions from US Accord Breach

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stated that the repercussions of the United States' breach of the agreed understanding would not be limited to the region alone but would affect the entire world. This warning came during Araqchi's meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on the sidelines of the annual session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, as part of his consultations with participating foreign ministers. The Iranian Foreign Minister clarified that the current situation, including the state of insecurity in the Strait of Hormuz, is a direct result of aggressive actions taken by the United States and Israel since February 28, 2026, which are still ongoing in various forms, according to Tasnim news agency. He also expressed his country's appreciation for Ankara's efforts to promote peace and security in the region, emphasizing that the US violation of its commitments led to the breach of the Islamabad understanding less than three weeks after its signing, with effects reverberating across the region and the world. Araqchi stressed the importance of regional countries playing an active role in restoring security and stability by fostering mutual trust, particularly by refraining from engaging in US interventionist and illegal actions, whether military or economic. He affirmed Tehran's readiness to cooperate in this regard. During their meeting, the two ministers discussed bilateral relations between their countries, as well as regional and international developments, and exchanged views on issues of common interest.
