Iraq’s Ministry of Trade announced a five-point plan to curb rising food prices in local markets.

Spokesperson Mohammed Hannoun said the measures include intensified market inspections and daily monitoring to prevent price manipulation.

The ministry also reached agreements with major traders to improve food supply flow and increase availability.

He stressed there will be no tolerance for monopolistic practices as part of efforts to protect consumers.
