Al-Zaidy Calls for Tracking Corrupt, Recovering Funds, Intensifying Drug Fight
Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidy affirmed the government's commitment to implementing its reform program. In this context, he directed the coordination of efforts between oversight bodies and law enforcement agencies to combat corruption crimes, while also stressing the necessity of exerting maximum efforts to fight the scourge of drugs. This came during Al-Zaidy's chairmanship of a meeting that included leaders of security and oversight agencies. During the meeting, a comprehensive review of the security and economic situations took place, alongside discussions on government measures adopted in combating corruption and mechanisms to enhance coordination among relevant institutions, with the aim of achieving the highest levels of performance in protecting public funds and enforcing the law. Al-Zaidy indicated that the government is proceeding with its reform program, which is consistent with the ministerial agenda for combating and preventing corruption. He affirmed the government's steadfast approach in pursuing the corrupt and bringing them to justice. The Prime Minister directed the coordination of efforts between oversight bodies and law enforcement agencies to track down and apprehend perpetrators of corruption crimes, recover public funds, and implement preventive measures to enhance the integration and effectiveness of roles, stressing that these procedures should encompass all government sectors without exception. Al-Zaidy also emphasized exerting maximum efforts in combating the scourge of drugs, given its importance in protecting society, preventing its spread, and achieving security and stability. He stressed that fighting corruption represents a shared national responsibility that requires the integration of roles among security, oversight, and judicial bodies, and mandates adopting the highest standards of integrity and transparency in performing duties. He issued directives to intensify intelligence and oversight efforts to pursue corruption and economic crime networks, follow up on the implementation of related government decisions, accelerate the completion of investigations pertaining to cases of aggression against public funds, and ensure the application of law to all without discrimination.
