Al-Hakim and Al-Maliki Reiterate Support for State Arms Monopoly

Ammar al-Hakim, head of the National State Powers Alliance, and Nouri al-Maliki, head of the State of Law Coalition, on Sunday reaffirmed their unwavering support for efforts to restrict arms exclusively to state control, emphasizing the crucial role of understanding and dialogue in achieving this goal. This came during Al-Hakim's reception of Al-Maliki, where the two leaders discussed upcoming national entitlements. The leaders reiterated their commitment to supporting the state's monopoly on weapons through dialogue and consensus, while commending the factions' role in defending Iraq and combating terrorism. Al-Hakim also renewed his backing for the anti-corruption campaign, urging its continuation and targeting major cases to recover public funds. He stressed the necessity of adopting automation in government operations to prevent the theft of public money. The meeting further highlighted the importance of the cohesion and unity of the Coordination Framework. Al-Hakim lauded the efforts made to preserve the country's stability and contribute to national decision-making, as both sides called for completing the government cabinet with competent, honest, and well-managed individuals.
