Agriculture sets meat price at 17,000 dinars per kilogram
The Ministry of Agriculture confirmed that meat prices have been fixed at 17,000 Iraqi dinars per kilogram across cooperative hypermarket branches, coinciding with the deployment of specialized oversight committees to monitor the local market and stabilize prices. Ministry spokesperson Qusay al-Hattab stated that the pricing established by the Ministry of Trade is directly backed by the Ministry of Agriculture under an official government decree. He emphasized that all displayed meat undergoes rigorous veterinary inspection and bears official validation stamps issued by physicians from the Veterinary Department. Regarding market oversight, al-Hattab noted that specialized inspection teams carry out daily field inspections across Baghdad's commercial markets, including Allawi Zuwayni, Jamila, and al-Dora, submitting regular reports to the relevant authorities. He added that official daily price lists are published directly on the ministry’s website. Furthermore, the ministry closely monitors citizens' complaints and observations published across media outlets and social networking platforms regarding surging prices. Al-Hattab highlighted the pivotal role of security forces in curbing violations in coordination with competent authorities, affirming that field campaigns will intensify in the coming days to restore market equilibrium for goods experiencing price spikes.
