A total of 229 Iraqi lawmakers have signed a request to hold a session to elect the president.
The request was submitted to parliament leadership to schedule the session next Monday.
MP Sarwa Mohammed said the move aims to proceed with forming a new government.
She stressed the need to move beyond the caretaker government.
The country requires a fully empowered administration, she added.
Lawmakers are awaiting official confirmation of the session date.
The move reflects efforts to complete constitutional processes.
